About Rachel

I have officially been teaching private and group lessons for about 6 years. Before that, however, I led my high school choir while my teacher was ill, as a teenager. This was a challenge, but revealed a love of teaching that has continued to today.

I have earned a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in music. My education and experience cover a variety of genres and skills, which I implement into lessons (voice, piano, music theory, composition, songwriting, production, etc.)

I also have real-world experience in everything that I teach. I am a vocalist, pianist, songwriter, and producer, and am happy to share my experience with you!

About the lesson

I love individualizing lesson plans to the student's needs and aspirations. No two students are the same, in their experience or in what they want out of lessons.

Our first lesson, we will get to know one another, establish our goals, and start with some basics (warm-ups, repertoire, etc.)

After that, it depends on you! If you want to record your own music, we may focus on theory, production, and songwriting. If you want to feel more confident performing live, we may focus on vocal technique, stage presence, and self accompaniment.

Whatever your goals, I am happy to accommodate and adapt. We will never work front to back in a workbook. We will use a variety of resources, some of which I've created myself, to best serve your needs.

I have worked with private students and group classes ages 5 to adult, differently abled students, students of different economic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ students... I love working with anyone with an earnest interest in expanding their musical world.

Especially with voice lessons, you want to work with someone who you trust (all music lessons can be emotionally vulnerable!). You also

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you want an occassional coaching, or do you want consistent lessons?

Do you want to pursue or continue a career in music, or is it solely for fun?

Do you want a teacher who gives you a rigorous plan, or one who adapts to your preferences?
