To Whom It May Concern:
It is an honor to be asked to write a letter of recommendation for my friend Deb Kirkendall. For several years I have known Deb, through our association at our church. In the past year or so, we have socialized outside of church. I know her to be an honest, hardworking, dependable Christian lady, who is willing to go the extra mile in friendship and in her commitment to our church.
When our Music Director retired unexpectedly, Deb was the first to step in and offer her services as Music Director so that our church was not without special music for Christmas and Easter. As an untrained singer, I learned a great deal from Deb’s direction. She understands music and has a strong vision for how music should be delivered. This is also evident in her commitment to Velvet Hills Choral group where she was a section leader. Not only is she well trained, has high but reasonable expectations for her choir, but she loves what she is doing.
As a side job, Deb has served as a voice coach to individuals and for another church’s Easter production. While her love for traditional church music is evident, I think she would also be open to taking on a bit more contemporary music direction. Flexibility is her trademark.
Deb has a pleasing demeanor, is easy to work with, is committed to her work and those in her choir and church. Though she strives for perfection, she is very understanding, with those of us who do not have musical training.
Working with, and knowing Deb has been a pleasure. It was our church’s loss when she moved to Arizona to be closer to her family. I highly recommend her for any music position where her skills, aptitudes and zest for performing can be fully utilized.

Review of Vocal Teaching by Deb Kirkendall

I took vocal lessons from Deb for several years. She made me feel at ease right away & had effective techniques to help me achieve the correct vocal resonance. If one technique didn’t achieve the desired response, she had other methods & examples to help me produce the correct sound. The lessons helped boost my confidence & my enjoyment of singing. She was very positive & affirming-not critical. I would recommend her as a vocal coach to others. I would rate her instruction with 5 stars.
