About Damaris

I was teaching part time at a school in Hollywood, Fl and administration encouraged me to pick more students and go full-time. It made the school more attractive to potential students.

I began my studies at age 7 and took lessons through college. In 1998, I returned to school, FAU, and began studying with Dr. Irena Kofman for 3 years. I go back for a review lesson every now and then.

I have taught music and music theory since 1991 and I am a church pianist. I can sightread just about anything and can play in every genre of music.

About the lesson

I start out finding out what level they are at, then I test their sightreading, and basic knowledge. If a beginner, then we start with the basics.

Kindergarten through age 78.

Make sure you like your teacher. If you like who you are working with, it will encourage you to do your best.

I went with a student in May to audition for my former instructor, Dr. Kofman at FAU and my instructor was pleased with what I had taught my student.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What track do you want to study? There are two that I offer, the "I want to learn for fun route" and the classical study student route. Both will offer technique, sightreading, and theory but the repetoire will be different and the classical will include assessments and jury performance.

Mrs. Damaris is the most inspirational teacher I have ever had! She has been helping me shape my voice with expert technique and allows me to work on pieces that I really enjoy. The thing I like most about Mrs. Damaris is her kindness, love, and passion she puts into making you a better musician & person. She would never make you feel bad about your mistakes; she's really there to help you. If you are wanting an expert in music and a sweet soul, Damaris exceeds expectations. Coming from a Student for 19+ years. Damaris will cease to amaze the world and the lives she touches along the way.
