About Becky

I've been teaching for over 30 years, having started teaching at the age of 12. My students have been chosen for awards and honors including Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival at both local and state levels, the Duquesne Young Artist Piano Festival, and the Steinway Society Young Artist program, as well as the Grove City College concerto competition. Many of my students have appeared as soloists with the Pittsburgh Concertino Chamber Orchestra.

My own active performing career helps me to be able to guide my students in becoming mature and thoughtful musicians.

About the lesson

I like to meet with prospective students to make sure that we are a good match for each other. We arrange a time to meet that is mutually agreeable and afterwards we can each decide independently if we would like to move forward with the arrangement. I require that all my students have an acoustic piano to practice on at home. I can help students procure an instrument if they do not already have one.

Once a student is officially signed up for lessons, I work with the student in each lesson on developing their technique, musicianship, and their understanding of theory, as well as finding repertoire to learn and polish for performance opportunities.

All my students participate in Piano Guild, which is an opportunity each spring to play prepared pieces for an adjudicator. My students also have the opportunity to perform at Grove City College in a recital each fall together with my college students.
