The very first thing is establishing how the student learns. and from there designing the right way to prepare a study program that will work best for him/her. Not everybody learns the same way so make sure you are teaching the best possible way that this student will be kept enthusiastic about his instrument. Sometimes I have had students that change their preferred instrument and that has made a big difference in his/her’s advancement.
