About Ariana

My private studio, located in the brand new Southington Community Cultural Arts building, has been steadily growing since 2009. I teach traditional lessons (to children ages 9+) and Suzuki Method violin and viola (to children ages 3+, by audition), and piano lessons. It is my aim to go above and beyond to make your child’s musical experience fun, supportive, and individually tailored to their needs. I seek to cultivate a positive environment for my students' to embrace challenges and to allow their creativity to blossom. We all know the well-documented benefits of music lessons, and I specifically make sure that our lesson time emphasizes not only musical growth, but personal growth.

My teaching style is heavily influenced by my experience as a professional symphony musician, my long-term Suzuki training, the eclectic mixture of traditional and Suzuki teachers, and the performers who have inspired me since my very first violin lesson. I received my Master of Music in Violin Performance with Suzuki Pedagogy Emphasis from The Hartt School, one of the world’s pre-eminent programs for Suzuki Pedagogy. I'm a very active freelancer, performing with many of Connecticut's top orchestras, operas, and ballet, including Eastern CT Symphony Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony, Waterbury Symphony, CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and Wallingford Symphony.

Ariana received her Master of Music in Violin Performance w/ Suzuki Pedagogy Emphasis from The Hartt School, which included intensive, long-term teacher training in the Suzuki method at one of the nation’s pre-eminent programs for Suzuki pedagogy. This concentrated two-year program includes in-depth study of the repertoire in Volumes 1-8 of the Suzuki Violin School. There, Ariana completed over 80 hours of lesson observation, a teaching mentorship with a Hartt Suzuki faculty member, and a lecture recital presenting pedagogical concepts with the Suzuki philosophy throughout the repertoire. Trained under such world renowned pedagogical notables as Teri Einfeldt (Chair, Suzuki Association of America), Ed Kreitman (Noted author of Teaching from the Balance Point and Teaching with an Open Heart), and Michelle Higa George, Ariana is certified for Suzuki Violin volumes 1-8.

With a great passion for performance, Ariana is an avid freelancer who performs on many of Connecticut's premiere concert stages, including that of Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Wallingford Symphony Orchestra, New Britain Symphony Orchestra, Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, CT Philharmonic, Norwalk Symphony Orchestra, and Hartford Opera Theater.

About the lesson

All incoming students receive a consultation over the phone and are invited to a trial lesson/audition. That way, we get to know each other and I gain a better understanding of your musical goals. For Suzuki Method, prospective students and parents observe at least 3 lessons prior to enrollment.
