About Evelyn
I have been teaching for 30+ years. I studied music theory and harmony at the University of Utah and I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through the MTNA organization. I am a member of the Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA) Jordan River Chapter and the Utah Federation of Music Clubs (UFMC) Salt Lake West. I am also certified as a "next step teacher" with Let's Play Music. I also sing with the Choral Arts Society of Utah (CASU) under the direction of Sterling Poulson.
I love teaching music theory and piano and working with students. We do a lot of performing and, with the help of my PNOScan, a lot of recording. My students stay motivated by earning points for lesson preparation, recordings, performances, concert attendance, and Piano Explorer activities. We have several recitals throughout the year and participate in several Federation Festivals each year.
