About Lauren

Hi! I provide high quality vocal coaching and piano instruction servicing the greater LA metro area. I teach in home, in studio, or online. Here are some testimonials from my satisfied clients:

"I’VE BEEN PERFORMING AS A MUSICIAN FOR 10 YEARS AND HAVE HAD MANY VOCAL COACHES. HOWEVER, I NEVER MADE IT PAST 5 LESSONS WITH ANY OF THEM BECAUSE I JUST DIDN’T FEEL AS THOUGH THEY UNDERSTOOD MY VOCAL GOALS AND ISSUES. I FELT COMFORTABLE WITH LAUREN FROM DAY ONE, AND COULD INSTANTLY TELL SHE WAS BOTH VERY SKILLED, KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH ARTISTS. AFTER SEVERAL LESSONS I KNEW SHE HAD THE ANSWERES I’D BEEN SEEKING FOR OVERCOMING THINGS IHAD BEEN STRUGGLING WITH FOR YEARS (MIXED VOICE STAMINA, VOWEL AMENDMENTS, PROPER BREATH INCORPORATION, ETC.) I HAVE MADE GREAT PROGRESS IN MY TECHNIQUE, STAMINA, AND MENTALITY.”/ GRANT WEBB /

“MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN WORKING WITH LAUREN FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. MY LITTLE GIRL WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A SPEECH AND READING DISABILITY AND HER PSYCHIATRIST RECOMMENDED SPEECH LESSONS AS WELL AS SINGING AND PIANO CLASSES TO HELP HER IMPROVE OVERALL. WITH LAUREN'S EXPERTISE IN SINGING AND PIANO, AND HER CALM PATIENCE, MY DAUGHTER IS SPEAKING MORE FLUENTLY NOW AND BELTS OUT SONGS ALL DAY LONG. LAUREN IS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH AND MY DAUGHTER JUST LOVES HER. IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN WHO ENJOY SINGING AND WANT THEM TO LEARN PIANO, LAUREN IS THE BEST!”/ LORENA JOHNSON /

“I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH LAUREN FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND I HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN COMMENTS ON HOW IMPROVED MY VOICE SOUNDS. I PERFORM AROUND LOS ANGELES REGULARLY, BUT I WANTED TO EXPAND MY BELTING RANGE AND GAIN MORE CONTROL OVER MY VOCAL INSTRUMENT. I HAVE ALREADY RAISED MY BELT TWO WHOLE STEPS AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT MY NEW CONFIDENCE IN MY VOICE. THANK YOU LAUREN!”/ CAIT LEOW /

I really enjoy sharing my knowledge of and passion for music with all my clients! I coach students of all ages, level, and style of music and from all walks of life. I look forward to helping you learn and make music!

I started teaching after I earned my Masters Degree, and have held faculty positions at AMDA, was a founding faculty member at the French Conservatory of Music in Beverly Hills, and currently run my own coaching business - Lauren Carter - The Music Academy.

I hold a Masters Degree in Music and have trained for years in all styles of singing, and I studied piano for ten years privately.

About the lesson

With voice, I start with a basic vocal warmup so I can get to know my client's instrument. From there, each and every lesson varies based on client needs. I teach every client fundamentals of technique, and we work repertoire with every lesson and tailor the process towards individual goals and needs. I will also ask all new students questions relating to their taste in music, their musical background if any, and their goals and dreams with their studies.

With piano, I suggest my preferred method books but am open to work with any material you prefer. If you don't have a keyboard or piano, I have a portable one to bring. But it's ideal if you can practice on your own. Students learn in a fun environment, and I bring my years of training and knowledge of music theory to the process, and all students are welcome to perform in my bi annual recital for piano and voice!

With voice I have coached everyone from beginner to pro, including world famous artists. I currently accept students of all ages and level of ability.

In piano studies, I only accept beginner - intermediate level but I do accept all ages, and can take on most clients for several years of their piano studies.
