About Roy

We provide individualized lessons in ceramics to adults and children (age 10 minimum) that takes the student through the entire process of creating art in clay.

I have over 40 years experience working in clay and am adept at all aspects of it including wheel throwing, hand builiding, and sculpture.

I got started teaching when people who saw my work at galleries, art shows, and online would ask for assistance getting into creating with clay.

Working with professional potter/professor at Texas Wesleyan University, I studied pottery creating techniques as well as the process of creating a glaze palette to personalize the look of the finished piece. In addition, I attended many workshops and seminars on pottery technique.

About the lesson

Typically, students come to me with no previous experience in clay so they are guided through the entire process with close instruction insuring student success.

I have worked with students from 10 years old to 70+ years old and most had no previous experience.

Make sure the teacher has an education background since those teachers tend to be able to articulate the steps necessary for success at any craft.

Recently, I was involved with a wonderful event sponsored by the Make A Wish foundation benefiting children. Working with the children to create an art piece that was auctioned at a special event that brought $1400.
