About Sherry
I make high fire porcelain pottery, do both hand building and wheel throwing. y studio is small so I am able to teach individual or small group lessons. In summer I an accomodate more in hand building classes as we can work outside in summer. I have been in this studio since 2000, and have been making pots for much longer.
I love working with clay and I love working at home in my studio!!!
Been making pottery for many years, have taught in both Community Clay Centers and Public Schools.
I have worked in clay my entire adult life, I am also a certified K-12 Art Teacher with a BA in Education.

About the lesson

For individual lessons I work one on one with the student teaching them how to throw clay on a pottery wheel or a variety of techniques used in hand building. Lessons include how to make pots from beginning to end.
I have taught 5th grade students when I student taught, as well as older adults, and all ages in between.
Have patience, I strongly suggest taking at least one hand building class before trying the wheel, so you have some idea of how to work clay before launching onto the wheel.
I participated in the Montana Clay Tour this last July in Helena, highlighting the potters of Montana for one weekend.

What they what to learn/make. Is there a particular piece you are interested in making or what is your interest in learning how to work with clay?
Also it is difficult to make pottery and have long fingernails, just an FYI.

Details
It depends on the level of experience you have, but mostly I charge $35 for a hour and a half class, includes instruction, equipment, glazes and firing. The only thing not covered is clay, which I sell for $15/25 lb. bag.
