About Flavio
I never studied film formally at school. I think you don ́t need to study cinema to make films! I really never study filmmaking. I know how to tell stories with or without a camera. If you need the inspiration to make your film I can help you. I ́m a Mexican-Argentinian film director, producer, writer and ex VICE host based in Los Angeles. I lived in 12 countries and visited 60, working with such luminaries as Yoko Ono, the Dalai Lama, Richard Gere, Mauritanian Oscar- nominated director Abderrahmane Sissako, Zenani Mandela, Chaz Bono and the Cambodian Oscar-winning director Rithy Panh. My work has received grants from the Ford Foundation, BBVA, the Spanish Agency of Cooperation and Air France and has been featured in a slew of prominent print, TV and online media including CNN, Huffpost, Indie wire and Attitude Magazine. He was recently listed as a ‘Mexican Filmmaker on the Rise’ by the influential Hollywood trade, Variety.
I was recognized for my critically-acclaimed documentary feature debut “Made in Bangkok,” Among its multiple awards and more than 60 nominations, “Made in Bangkok” was also nominated for a Sebastiano award at the 2016 San Sebastian International Film Festival and is now streaming on Netflix.
I gave lessons in film school, including New York Film academy in New York. Also in Thailand, Mexico and Tanzania.
