About Celina
I'm a Ph.D. student @ UC Berkeley and have three years of teaching experience with undergraduate students. I have taught over 300+ Berkeley undergraduates and have won my department's "Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor" award. I have also served as a mentor for students through mentoring programs at Cal.
I am committed to not only helping my students learn the material at hand and work through questions/difficulties they're having, but eventually work towards cultivating their skills in organization, critical thinking, habit-formation, and discipline. My approach is warm and positive, always orienting students toward goals and cultivating a can-do attitude. I am a patient teacher and want all of my students to master their material and ultimately feel more independent in their ability to conquer schoolwork and beyond.

I like to begin by organizing ourselves and setting goals. Are there deadlines for assignments or exams coming up? What are the topics that will be covered?
I then spend time assessing what has been the most troubling aspect of the academic process for my student. Many students struggle with comprehending reading assignments, for example, or learning how to study effectively. Other students have difficulties focusing or distinushing what content is important vs. unimportant. I work with my student to identify areas of weakness so that I can work with them to culivate the skills that they need in addition to working with me on comprehending material.
