About Nicole

Hello! I am currently working towards becoming a clinical psychologist, researcher and public servant and would love to help fellow students in my free time. My passions and expertise are wide-reaching and I have been tutoring and mentoring students throughout my entire career. For example, in college I was an Equal Opprotunity Program (EOP) tutor for all four years where I helped students navigate exams and assignments in several courses including Intro to Psychology, Social Psychology, Intro to Statistics, Behavioral Neuroscience, Abnormal Psychology and more!

I am currently a masters candidate in clinical psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University with a concentration in trauma and global mental health; my GPA is 4.18. In 2018, I graduated University at Albany with two majors, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Concentration in Neuroscience) and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development (Concentration in Organizational Leadership) with a GPA of 3.87.

I also currently serve as Laboratory Manager of my research lab at Teachers College, the Resilience Center for Veterans and Families. In addition, I am a Research Assistant at both the James J. Peter's VA and the Loss, Trauma and Emotion lab where I am working on several active projects and manuscripts. More recently I have became an overnight Counselor for my local sexual violence hotline.

Finally, I co-founded a 501c3 nonprofit with several of my colleagues that helps individuals and families in NYC experiencing extreme poverty (i.e., homelessness and food insecurity) while also working to improve mental health access for underserved communities. Prior to starting my own nonprofit I worked with several state legislators and grass-roots advocacy organizations to advance issues and laws. In college I was also President of two organizations. Therefore, I am well-versed in public speaking, persuasion and activism as well.

In all my numerous roles, I teach and mentor students using an individualistic model to help prepare them for career in clinical and counseling psychology, psychological research, and/or public service. I envision working with you, focusing on your unique skills and passions to ensure you get where you want to go. Whether that be getting an A in that course, getting into a graduate program, advancing a cause, or anything you want to accomplish, we will get it done. I'm a hard worker and I give everything my all. Let's do it!

Truthfully, I love the long lasting impact I can have on someone's life. Nothing motivates me more than hearing about my student accomplish what we worked hard to do! If you're anything like me, you have a lot of goals to accomplish. That alone may seem daunting. What I love is helping students make their goals realistic and setting an appropriate timeline to completion. In my view, success in anything is possible with the proper support and tools!
