About Annie

I love to help students reach their full potential and encourage them to enjoy something I am so passionate about. I try to make learning as fun as possible. I have over 5 years experience in tutoring settings, but over 8 years in academic settings (classroom teaching, before/after school programs, babysitting).

I really love seeing that "lightbulb" moment occur with my students when they finally understand the material they were struggling with. I really enjoy helping students with something they may not find enjoyable, because I like the challenge of changing their minds. I get real satisfaction by helping people learn.

From the time I was young, I always wanted to teach. My mom babysat out of her home, so I liked to help her. As the kids she babysat for got a bit older, we would play school. I have always enjoyed helping others. So I decided to attend BGSU for my degree as it was highly accredited in education degree programs.

I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and my Master's Degree in Reading from Bowling Green State University. I also have my Reading Endorsment. I was an America Read's tutor at BGSU and completed my student teaching experience in a kindergarten classroom. I am now the Academic Support Coordinator for a before/after school program.

About the lesson

I usually take some time right away to get to know them to find out what they need help with. I also try to get to know them on a personal level-finding out what they like, what they are interested in-so that I can incorporate those interests into lessons/content to make it more engaging for the learner.

I primarily have worked with early elementary aged students (K-5), but have also done some work with middle school students.
