About Heather

I have been a special education teacher for 12 years. I have taught grades 3-6, both in a brick and mortar setting and virtual platform. I prefer to work closely with famiilies, in addition to their student because I firmly believe that working together provides best for student needs. My program begins with an assessment to identify a students needs. I then personalize a tutoring program based on the results in order to bridge the gaps. I am also willing to discuss with the child's classroom teacher. I enjoy learning about my students interests so these can be incorporated into their learning program. I make education fun.

What i enjoy the most is meeting new students and their families. I love having the opportunity to build strong rapport. People have always asked me why I wanted to teach. I feel it is something I was called to do. This is not just a job for me. It is my passion. Being able to watch a child learn new things or meet a struggle they have been having is an incredible experience.

About the lesson

1. Speak with legal guardian on the phone about the student and his/her needs.

2. Meet the family and student. Complete an assessment to see what the learning needs are.

3. Design a specialized program for the student and watch learning unfold.
