About Myrtle

I’m Dr. Myrtle Webb and I’m an experienced elementary/middle school certified educator of literacy and numeracy skills, grades k through college. I have 60 years of successful, professional experience as an educator. My 4 earned degrees are from Morgan State University, the Johns Hopkins University, and Temple University. I'm "old school" meaning that I teach my students the traditional phonics skills that enhance phonemic development needed for mastery of word recognition, vocabulary and comprehension. Similarly, I teach numeracy skills that enhance mathematical development. My students rank in the 98 percentile. Call me at (concealed information) only if you are serious about your child's academic success. Day, night and weekend options are available. However, consistency is important. A minimum of two times a week are mandatory. I have 4 week and 6 week packages available for the fall. No exceptions.

Seeing my students go from "struggling" to "proficient" to “exceeding expectations” is absolutely thrilling. It's so worth the investment you make in their academic success. It is most gratifying to see students who have been "written off" by the schools excel at levels that no one ever expected. I'm very” old school” (traditional) and, more importantly, I'm a "result" oriented person. I integrate Zaner Bloser manuscript and cursive handwriting, spelling and grammar skills in my literacy instruction! Evening and weekend options are available. Your child is worth the investment.

I graduated from college cum laude in 1965 with a degree in elementary education and started teaching 4th grade. I was an exemplary teacher from day 1.

Morgan State University- Honors Graduate Bachelors Of Science in Elementary Education Degree 1965

The Johns Hopkins University Master of Education Degree in Urban Education and Certificate of Advanced Study in Education-1970 and 1976

Temple University-Doctorate of Education 1982

I have been a member  and officer of the International Reading (Literacy) Association since 1982, as well as the State of Maryland International Reading (Literacy) Association.

I am President and CEO of The Little "Read" School House. I personally provide thorough  "one on one" instruction in diagnostic, remedial, corrective reading and developmental reading, as well as, decoding skills, phonemic awareness, word recognition skills, vocabulary development and comprehension. These skills are critical to student academic success. I'm also trained to work with students with severe disabilities , such as dyslexia. I'm a curriculum and instruction specialist and an academic coach. My instruction is very comprehensive and effective.

My professional materials are expertly developed, highly personalized, customized and individualized. Additional instruction is provided in comprehension strategies, which include "common core", critical and higher-order thinking skills. Test taking strategies are incorporated in my instruction process. Twice weekly sessions are highly recommended for best results. Results will vary depending on the frequency of instruction.  I’m not cheap, quick or gimmicky! But I'm more reasonable than the pricey franchises. Also, I do not provide intermittent service. Frequent cancellations will also affect results.  Consistency is very important to success. My sessions are 60 minutes in length. I expect my students to complete assigned home work. This practice is an integral part of the learning process for my students. I assure you that I will make your child a successful student! I'm the tutor that you want. And yes, I do teach mathematic numeracy.

I have worked with all types of students, including students diagnosed as being dyslexic,  in my career from grades k through 12 and beyond. I have been an adjunct professor at several local colleges and universities, including Morgan State and Bowie State.

Look at people's credentials. You don't have time, especially now, for people with no experience out to make a few quick bucks. They can do you more harm than good. I assure you. I won't disappoint you.

Just last week one of my parents told me that she had seen a change in her child in about 3 instructional sessions. She noticed his increased confidence. I tell all of my students that they are smart. I make them feel like winners. They blossom and achieve!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Most students in need of tutoring know that they are not performing up to the same level of their peers. During the initial informal assessment they start to reveal their strengths and weaknesses. As a learning specialist, I address them in my instructional plan.
