About Christine
Hello!
I have been an educator for 18 years and a certified reading specialist for 10 years. My passion is teaching struggling readers become successful readers.
Teaching children to become successful
I became an elementary school teacher in 2002. I fell in love with teaching phonics and went to graduate school to get my masters in reading.
I have taught kindergarten for 9 yrs, 1st grade 1 yr, 2nd grade for 1yr, and ESL for 7 years. I have been a private reading tutor for grades PK-8th grade for 9 yrs. I also do test prep for the reading state exams.

I start my first lesson off by getting a baseline of what level your child is currently reading at by administering a running record. To keep the lessons fun and light I have lots of games, for example: sight word, phonics, and comprehension games.
I have worked with a variety of students. I have worked with autistic, struggling readers, dyslexic, and gifted students.
Ask how long they have been doing it because expertise come from experience
I am fond of the connections students make when I teach them a new skill such as a movement to remember something and then they apply it.
