About Amber
Higher Ground Literacy Club Counselors are excited to create a love of reading by teaching small blocks of literacy fundamentals that build upon eachother. Through reading games that help students gain literacy blocks we build reading fluency one block at a time for English speakers and English as a second language learners.
Higher Ground Counselors enjoy seeing the light go off for students when they realize that the small literacy blocks they have been working on have them reading.
Higher Ground has been providing comprehensive after school programs for the past 20 years with early literacy being a focus.

When a new club member joins we engage in getting to know you activities that create a since of belonging. Through these activites agreements, expectations, the literacy building blocks are introduced, and personal goal setting takes place.
