About Erich

Hello!

I am currently a first-year law school student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. I graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor's Degree cum laude in 2019.

I've been tutoring students of all ages in various subjects since my freshman year of high school. Over the past 8 years, I've tutored students for SATs, NYS Regents, and LSATs.

I have also worked in mentoring students for their college application process including: helping students find the right college for their interests and goals, brainstorming and revising college essays, and providing crucial advice for college success.

I look forward to working with students of all grade-levels and interests, no matter where they are on their path to academic success.

I've worked for a company called Admissions Hero in my free time at Columbia. Through this company, I tutored people extensively in SATs and helped students prepare their college applications.

I've also done private tutoring for over 8 years.

About the lesson

The first step is always getting to know the learning style of each student. I, for example, am an auditory learner and love listening to lectures, asking questions, and thinkign through a problem out loud. Other students like to learn visually; some prefer to write down extensive notes. I figure out what the particular student's preferences are make sure to use an appropriate teach style throughout the course.

I also like to know what the student's goals are for a given class - whether it's a high score, admission to a school, or a genuine understading of a subject - all of these goals require different teaching approaches.

Finally, I like to make the student an active participant in the class. As a law student, I find the socratic method to be an excellent tool for stimulating thought in students and getting them engaged. I ask students carefully tailored questions which force them to dig deep into their own knowledge base and approach the subject in creative ways.
