About Cynthia

I teach women how to deal with dangerous and violent situations and the fear they feel on a day to day basis that holds them back from living a life of freedom, possibility, and aliveness.

I help women of all ages discover their innate abilities, navigate through fear, and step into their lives with courage, confidence and power.

I believe that EVERY WOMAN has the right to freedom:

• Freedom to go about her daily life unencumbered by fear, anxiety, nervousness, doubt

• Freedom to do what she wants to do and know that she can handle any surprises and obstacles that she encounters

• Freedom to take action, change direction, and make choices trusting her instincts and intuition

As a young woman I always felt vulnerable being out in the world alone, whether on my college campus, traveling abroad, walking around a city for fun, or going to and from work. As I raised four children, I worried about their safety at school and at the park, as they ventured out alone on outings to the mall and the movies, and eventually when they went away to college.

Studying martial arts gave me experience in kicking and punching, grappling, and learning how to evade and counter-attack, but still I felt vulnerable.

That’s when I realized that I had missed two very important parts of learning how to protect myself: knowing how to avoid getting into a dangerous situation in the first place, and how to navigate through fear and shock if something did happen.

When I had the opportunity to train with Tony Blauer, I found exactly what I needed: a way to prepare myself to deal with unexpected confrontations and violent encounters, and a way to weather an initial attack so that I could use not just the martial arts skills I had developed but all of the natural abilities that every human being is born with.

I love teaching and coaching, and I wake up in the morning filled with energy and excitement just knowing that as a PDR/SPEAR SystemTM instructor I can help women like you learn how to navigate through situations that might be frightening and dangerous.

Whether I'm working with teens going to college, survivors of domestic violence, or groups of "ordinary" folks, I love to hear their backgrounds, stories and concerns so I can best help them step into the world with newfound confidence in their own knowledge, mindset, and skills.

I have more than 20 years of martial arts training, holding a 4th degree Black Belt, and I'm a certified Personal Defense Readiness coach affiliated with Blauer Tactical Systems.

About the lesson

Self defense lessons offered by Cynthia are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
