About Hermann

Alpha 1 Tactical is dedicated to making good people safer. We focus on teaching regular people the right mindset, tactics, and skills to be their own first responder in order to ensure their personal safety and that of their loved ones. We employ a comprehensive approach that includes situational/self awareness, realistic empty-hand self-defense techniques, fear management, and the employment of firearms in a defensive capacity. We offer group classes as well as private training that can accommodate any person, lifestyle, and need.

There is nothing more satisfying than empowering people to protect themselves and their loved ones. There are many poor and unqulified instructors, myths, and misunderstandings about what real violence is, so it's very rewarding to serve as a reliable source of information and disabuse people of concepts that could end up getting them in trouble.

Alpha 1 Tactical, LLC founder and head instructor, Hermann Morris, comes from a family of avid hunters and outdoorsmen. As such, he has over 30 years of experience handling firearms. His initial foray into personal defense was through martial arts starting in his teens. He has trained in disciplines such as Muay Thai, boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and self-defense systems like Krav Maga and SPEAR.

This passion for self-defense also led him to seek similar training with firearms, culminating in training under world-renowned instructors like Travis Haley, Raul Martinez Jr., and Max Joseph, and attending several courses in prestigious schools such as Haley Strategic, Front Sight, American Self Defense School, Fieldcraft Survival, and ZERT, among others.

Hermann has been teaching since 2010 and became a certified and insured firearms trainer in 2012. His biggest passion is sharing his knowledge with students of all levels. He subscribes to the belief that we never cease to be students, and as such, makes it a point to keep training in order to constantly improve upon what he offers his students. He recently completed a year-long mentorship program directly under world-renowned personal defense coach, Tony Blauer.

Hermann is a certified NRA Instructor for Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection In the Home, and Personal Protection Outside the Home. He is also approved by the state of Arizona Department of Public Safety to license private security in the use of firearms. Additionally, he is an affiliate of Blauer Tactical Systems and certified as a SPEAR- Personal Defense Readiness™ instructor.

About the lesson

After our initial contact with a student via phone or email, we discuss the students needs and wants pertaining to their personal defense development and come up with a custom solution.
