About James

My name is James Tyler and I have over ten years of experience in the vocal field. I was enrolled in chorus classes in high school, in these classes we would go to competitions and compete with other schools all over south Florida, and in 2013 we won! I've also had private lessons. I've taken the skills I learned and went on to sing in festivals, birthday parties, weddings, funerals, and many other special events. I've been the director of music for several churches and for special events where I've coordinated the arrangements of the songs, worked with the vocalist on melodies and harmonies, and worked with musicians on the overall structure of the event. I've been giving private lessons since 2015 and I currently work at a non-profit performing arts school where I teach a vocal class one day a week. My passion is to help students reach their full potential and express themselves through this amazing art form! I love it when my students feel personal growth in their craft and to see them reach their goals. I not only teach the basics of vocals but I also teach how to implement these techniques when recording and performing.

I started teaching in 2015 when friends were telling me they wanted to improve their singing skills. I set up lessons from my house and it grew from there.

I've taken three years of chorus classes and have had private lessons.

About the lesson

The typical process would start with the student singing a song that they feel best represents their skills with or without accompaniment. I would take notes and assess where the student shines and where they can use improvement!

I've mostly worked children and young adults but I am willing to work with any age group.

I would tell them to pick someone who has the most experience in the field they are looking to pursue! whether that be solo Performance, recording, or ensemble work

There was recently and end of the summer talent show at the school I teach at and it was amazing to see my students implement the skills I've taught them in front of their friends and family!
