About Jesus
Jesús Vicente Murillo is an accomplished bass-baritone and seasoned educator with over a decade of experience in teaching and performance. With advanced degrees in Opera and Vocal Performance from McGill University and the University of Michigan, Jesús brings a wealth of expertise to his tutoring in voice, speech, acting, public speaking, and English as a Second Language (ESL).
He has taught voice since 2010, specializing in classical, musical theater, and contemporary genres. His dynamic teaching approach combines technical excellence with an emphasis on expressive communication, fostering both skill and confidence in his students.
As a multilingual artist fluent in Spanish and conversant in German, Italian, and French, Jesús offers unique insights into linguistic and cultural nuances, making his ESL and public speaking sessions particularly engaging and effective. Through his work, he has translated many of opera's most famous pieces into English, including works by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Strauss, Bizet, Rossini, and others. He is thoroughly versed in the works of Shakespeare, Beaumarchais, Hoffmanstall, Goethe, Chekhov, in addition to many figures of the European theatrical and literary traditions.
His years of experience as a leading performer on international stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, Nashville Opera, Portland Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and many others, is an invaluable resource in guiding his students to mastering their stage presence and vocal delivery.
