Career Highlights:

Classical tenor from the Southern California area. In my forty years professional career I have had the opportunity to sing throughout various cities in the United States and South America and have performed for both radio and television presentations. Among the many artists and musicians that I have performed with throughout my career, some of the more notable artists include Carl Sinclair, John Alexander, Zubin Mehta, Thomas Hampson, Giorgio Totsi, George Mester, and Hernan Pelayo, among many others. Today I continue to perform with the Pacific Chorale. Other solo performances and concerts continue to be calendared in advance.

Operatic performances include:

Carmen, Tosca, La Traviata, Madam Butterfly, Turandot, La Forza del Destino, I Pagliacci, Aida, Cavalleria Rusticana, and more.

Most Notable Private Study and Vocal Lineage of Bel Canto:

Laurain Burgess: Director and founder of the Southern California Conservatory of Music.

Dr. Hernan Pelayo: Leading baritone for the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala de Milan and the Royal Opera Company.

Vocal Lineage:

“Gabriel Ratinoff is one of few tenors in the world with a vocal lineage of the great masters.

Mr. Ratinoff was trained and mentored under world renowned baritone Hernan Pelayo. Among Pelayo’s most notable students at the Conservatory of Mexico was a young Placido Domingo.

Henan Pelayo was mentored under legendary tenor Mario Del Monaco.

Pelayo studied under tenor super star Beniamino Gigli.

Gigli was the protege of the great Enrico Caruso.”

What I Have to Offer: Vocal Theory/Pedagogy, Music Theory, Vocal Training, Coaching, Mentoring, Vocal Preservation and Rehabilitation.

Today, I continue the tradition of the great masters vocal training of Bel Canto. This technique can be applied to any genre of music.

Pop/Rock, jazz, musical theater, opera, etc.

Past vocal students have received vocal scholarships to colleges and universities such as UCLA and USC, and Chapman University and Cal State Fullerton.

Current and past vocalists include young students, recreational singers, training, coaching and mentoring of professional performers and international artists along with other vocal teachers and choral conductors. For those seeking vocal rehabilitation, I apply the Alexander Technique of vocal training. I am currently bringing on vocalists ranging from beginner to advanced and professional singers.

About the lesson

Singing lessons offered by Gabriel are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Riverside. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.

Perfect! I'm an adult who signed up for singing lessons in search of a new hobby and to work through anxiety so that I can start singing at social events. I am 29 y/o and have never tried singing in the past (not even at birthday parties - too nervous to sing!).

I found Gabriel through this site and have been taking lessons for about 5 months now. I have already noticed a HUGE difference in my ability to hit the right notes and in my confidence level when singing! I even started singing around family members, which I never would have imagined doing prior to starting lessons with Gabriel.

What stands out to me about our lessons:
- his level of expertise in bel canto
- his ability to explain correct singing techniques in very clear, simple, understandable terms
- his ability to make me feel comfortable, I have 0 anxiety when working with him
- his patience (we go over parts of songs repeatedly until I get them right, he makes sure we don't move on until I use the proper technique!)
- how he tailors lessons to fit his students' preferences. Example: I mentioned I'm interested in learning other genres in addition to bel canto. At any given time, he has me learn two songs - one bel canto song that he chooses based on my voice/skill level and one other song that I choose that isn't necessarily bel canto.
- his flexible scheduling. I work full time with an unpredictable schedule. Gabriel is very open to working with my schedule.
- he holds optional biannual recitals for all of his students, which are great opportunities to practice performing in front of people.

Overall, I plan to continue taking lessons with Gabriel and I highly recommend him as a singing teacher!

His use of the Bel Canto method has helped me discover things about my voice that I did not know I was capable of. Gabriel always taylors each lesson to what my voice needs at any given moment and is able to adapt what we are working on based on how my voice is feeling that day or what it is capable of doing at any given moment.
