About Dennis

Multi award winning (12 x Grammy nominee, AMA, CMA, ACM, BMI, ASCAP) songwriter/producer/arranger/keyboard player.

I teach the art and craft of songwriting and recording technology. I have taught privately and at a few specialized schools. I lecture and participate in panels from time to time.

I have had 80+ songs on Billboard's Top 100 charts over the course of my career.

I mentored a number of songwriters and producers of pop music. This led to speaking and lecturing for Grammy In The Schools and other organizations. When I moved to south Florida, I began teaching a little at Sam Ash Music and then at Pine Crest School in Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale. I was also asked to interview for the Chair of the NYU Clive Davis School of Recorded Music in NYC.

Talk about music in general, assess ability, listen to goals and objectives, come up with an approach to the lessons.

Every age, every type of music background and experience. Most wanted to write songs and sing. Others wanted to write and produce for other singers and artists.

If he/she hasn't succeeded in their own right in the commercial world of music and recording, don't hire them. There aren't very many teachers who have had significant success in commericial music. Find one that has.

$50/h

Details

I charge $250 per session which is usually an hour long. Over a period of several months (+/- 10 sessions) based on a one hour per week meeting, we usually have a completed song. In most cases, the song is co-written by my studewnt and me. We own the song together and share equally in whatever happens with it, if anything. In some rare cases, my students write the song alone and I am simply steering, monitoring, suggesting revisions etc.
