About Damaris

I am an independent tutor who feels rewarded when the students meet their goals in mind and feel succesful. My main experience has been with my own daughter, I am very involved in her academics and with school. I am a recent graduate from the University of Houston-Downtown and currently working to get my teacher certification through the Texas Teachers of Tomorrow program.

Meeting new people and being able to build professional relationships.

It all started when my daughter was struggling at school. We would work everyday with sight words, reading comprehension and streghten areas where she was good at.

I have a bachelors degree from the University of Houston-Downtown. I am currently working towards my Texas State teaching certificate for grades 4-8 in bilingual education. Currently working for VIPKid teaching English to kids in China online.

About the lesson

The student will take an assesment this will help me figure out the level of knowledge/proficiency in English or Spanish. The assesment will be a key factor to be able to plan the lessons for the student.

The majority of my students have been in elementary school.

To not be afraid to talk, or let your tutor know to slow down or vise versa. The process will depend on how slow or fast you learn and the effort that is put in it.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If the language they need lessons on is the teacher's native language. If not, the number of years spoken.
