About Lindsay
I’ve spent three months living in Spain and two years living in Nicaragua, so I have a solid understanding of the Spanish language. I also understand the perspective of a student who is trying to learn the language, because I too was once a novice who went from knowing no Spanish, to becoming fluent. I have 10 years of experience taking courses in Spanish, and learning different teaching strategies. Above all, I incorporate the cultural value of learning the language, and make it fun!
I started teaching in 2015 in Nicaragua as a Peace Corps volunteer. I spent three months dedicated to learning teaching strategies, and then applying those strategies for the next two years. When I returned to Colorado in 2017, I began tutoring students in Spanish using both the language and teaching skills I had acquired in Nicaragua.
I taught a Spanish entrepreneurship class in Nicaragua for two years from 2015-2017, and most recently I have been tutoring college students in Spanish for the past year.

I like to get to know my student on a personal level, and get a good understanding of their Spanish level. It is extremely intimidating to speak a foreign language that one is learning, which can be a barrier to learning the language. I like to get to know my students on a personal level to build that trust, so they feel comfortable enough to speak and make mistakes. I also like to spend time getting to know my students' Spanish level so that I can understand their needs, and really focus on the areas that they need help on.
I have worked with both high school student, and college students.
