About Kathy
I am an enthusiastic teacher who prides myself in being able to quickly assess student needs and employ an engaging, interactive, and highly functional teaching style. I take the most daunting tasks and make them easy to learn through authentic contexts and fun games.
I really enjoy finding creative ways to teach the language and to make it fun and easy for students. The magic that happens when a student connects with the language and begins to move forward with comprehension and proficiency in the target language is priceless and eternally rewarding.
I have been a secondary Spanish teacher in an at risk school district for more than twenty years. My experience allows me to quickly assess students' individual needs and preferences and to cater my teaching strategies to their interests and learning styles. I have extensive experience with distance learning techniques and based on my methods instruction from Eastern Michigan University, employ a highly functional, interactive, and authentically communicative teaching methodology.

Upon meeting initially I like to do simple review games and socialize to find out what their favorite ways to learn are and to assess their learning needs and challenges. From there, we develop a schedule and objectives for moving forward. I am highly adaptive and accommodating and love to keep the focus on communication while engaging students with their own personal interests.
