About Elizabeth

I have a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Illinois State University, covering knowledge that spans from speaking the language itself to the cultures of the many places of the world that speak it.

Since I was a student myself, I cultivated a passion for Spanish and the cultures of its speakers at an early age. I like to share my enjoyment of learning with others, and watching students succeed gives me the most satisfaction.

I often tutored friends in middle school and became a teacher's assistant in high school. Teaching came naturally in a one-on-one setting.

I have taken courses on child and adolescent development, as well as teaching in a secondary school setting. I have also been a tutor at the Boys & Girls Club in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.

About the lesson

I would spend the first 30 minutes getting to know the student-- their likes, dislikes, strengths, and weaknesses. I get to know their preferred learning style and go over what areas they would like to reinforce. From that information, I would be able to customize the experience specifically for the student.

I've worked with students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, as well as students who have difficulty learning in a traditional classroom setting.

Details

I charge $45 for an introductory 90-minute session to see if I fit the student's needs. After this, I charge $50 for a regular 2-hour session.
