About Yanelis

Enthusiastic and devoted Spanish Language and Art History Teacher with excellent instructional skills cultivated throughout years of teaching in diverse multi-cultural learning environments. Profound theoretical foundations about Hispanic's language, arts, and cultures as well as hands-on work experience in Latin America and Europe.

I got the Status of Elegibility Spanish K-12, Florida Department of Education

I started to give writing and grammar style classes in Spanish in an adult education program at the University of Havana, Cuba, in 2006.

Once I enter the classroom I have always returned and I have never stopped doing it because I like to interact, to meet new people.

I consider it a special way to continue acquiring knowledge and share what I already have. It is a unique experience.

I have 8 years of experience teaching grammar and writing in Spanish. Where I first started was in my country of birth, Cuba, and then I continued working in Spain. There I studied a Master's degree in Art History and in the same time I worked teaching at an Academy. All the knowledge of art, culture and Spanish language are the basis of my lessons.

About the lesson

For me the essential thing before I start is to know in depth the needs of my student and the interest at the moment of learning Spanish. Why do you need to communicate in Spanish? What is the essential purpose of the classes? What time do you have? What language level do you have?

All these data help to organize the course or the lessons in a more practical way.

It is not the same to learn Spanish to face an exam than to speak in public or give lectures.

I have had a wide range of students, from 6 year olds to students in Adult Education Program. But also I've had group classes and face-to-face classes with a single student,

I have been teaching Spanish and Art for many years and I have experienced many types of educational scenarios and I have had all kinds of students, of different ages and cultures.

I advise you to find a teacher that makes you feel comfortable and safe in the study of Spanish. Mark in each class, the study objectives and help you measure the progress. That also be patient and fun. so that in each class learning is like walking outdoors, oxygenating and unique.

I love reading, and for the first time I was at the Miami Book Fair, a dynamic and different event. I could be in several presentations of famous Latin American authors like Isabel Allende.

I also like to go to the film series organized by the Spanish Cultural Center of Miami. A place that I recommend to those who enter the study of Spanish in these city
