About Caroline
My first experience with teaching was working with preschoolers at a summer camp when I was in high school. I upheld various leadership and mentorship roles in my youth as well, teaching elementary and middle school children about diversity and inclusion and mentoring students with learning disabilities. I interned at an art education center after college and went on to work at my undergraduate institution in their Community Engagement Center. In this role, I taught ELL and computers classes to day laborers, as well as trained and mentored college students in their community internships. I also produced educational community events and co-taught a class guiding students through their internship research projects.
I began tutoring at the end of 2020, working with students from age 8-adulthood focused on English, Spanish, ELL, Social Sciences, and Executive Functioning Skills.
In the dance world, I have choreographed several dance performance pieces and received a certificate in dance training from Everybody Dance! in Los Angeles. I have taught several dance workshops and currently teach remote classes in Restorative Yoga, flexibility, and choreo-based classes
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Gender Studies with a Minor in Dance. I completed an extensive amount of writing for my undergraduate degree, including longterm research papers. In high school, I took AP English I and II as well as AP World History. I studied Spanish in undergrad and clarified my language speaking skills while abroad in Quito, Ecuador. Since then, I have worked in the social work and education fields in both English and Spanish-speaking communities. I am trained in Motivational Interviewing and have studied Growth Mindset Practices to support students with learning disabilities. I also am a lifelong dancer in various styles. I teach dance classes and workshops and have a certificate in dance teaching from Everybody Dance!

Before meeting with a student, I like speaking to them and/or their guardian about their goals, learning style, strengths, challenges, and interests. This helps me to design curriculum to fit their needs and ensure I am equipped for our first session. At the end of each session, I ask for any questions or feedback that the student may have so that they always have the opportunity to evaluate my teaching and help me grow too! After each session I send a thorough email including any homework and/or resources we're working on.
I have worked with students of all ages, from toddlers to adults, from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds and learning abilities. I have worked with several students with learning disabilities and those struggling with executive functioning skills. I have helped working professionals improve their language skills and young students enhance their grades.
