About Helen
Hello future students! My name is Helena, and I have been teaching español online for a Chinese language academy called Fangzhujiaoyu for the past two years. I consider myself a patient and enthusiastic teacher and I work really hard as I love my job. During this time I have completed 2000 lessons (50 mins) which have made me a very experienced tutor. I am here hoping that this website students would give me the opportunity to expand my experience and broaden their language skills.
My approach to español is a perfect combination of theory, for which I can provide the student with a variety of text books according to their level and their goals; and practice. This is where the immersion part comes in: students seem to retain more when they get to practice the theory applied to a topic they find interesting, this could be cuisine, science, math, art, crafts, video, business or literature.
In my lessons, I follow the content of the text books I suggest and provide in pdf format for my students and twice a month I give my students an immersive lesson where they choose the topic of their interest. For this lesson I prepare a vocabulary list on the subject, a comprehensive explanation with images and video and last we perform an activity regarding the topic of choice. This may consist of a science experiment, a calculus game, an easy recipe, a cultural travel activity or a coversational exchange.
Certified cervantes institue ELE professor.
