About Tess

I am a trained Spanish teacher. I teach levels 1,2, and 4. I know what it is like to learn the language in the classroom, given that it is my second language.

I love helping students gain a better understanding of why it is important to learn another language. It's amazing to see their compentencies and communication skills grow!

I started teaching in my undergraduate coursework. I was a student teacher and was mentored by other language teachers. I spent two summers as a teaching intern in CT and have been employed as a full-time teacher for three years in high school.

About the lesson

I like to get to know their foundational skills, what level they are at in terms of their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. I then see what curriculum they are learning or have already learned so that we can work together to establish learning goals

I have worked with students ages 10-19. I have worked with kids whose first language is English, learning Spanish as a second language and I taught English as a second language.

Look for a teacher who is willing to be flexible and try different modes of teaching.
