About Matthew
Hi! I'm Zach and I'm about to graduate cum laude from the University of Florida with majors in Spanish and Linguistics and a minor in Economics! Since September of 2019 I have been working on campus in Gainesville as a Spanish tutor, but since the university has closed much of its operations, my job has since disappeared.
In the approximately eight months I have been working as a tutor, I have helped students both in 1 on 1 scenarios with their grammar and conversation skills as well as in small group environments focusing on communication and confidence building. I have over three years of experience in university courses taught completely in Spanish, and in the summer of 2019 I received a scholarship to spend a semester abroad living with a host family in Seville, Spain.
I really love guiding students through their language learning journeys and helping them to realize just how achievable and rewarding learning another language can be!
In addition to the three years experience I have in university Spanish classes, I have worked as a tutor for approximately nine months at the University of Florida. I have also spent a semester abroad living with a host family in Seville, Spain.

I like to get a handle of the student's proficiency level, needs, and goals before working with them. Every student is going to start at a different point and is going to need to end up achieving a particular goal, and setting expectations from the beginning is key. After I find out what needs to be worked on and goals which need to be achieved, I tailor lesson plans specific to the student.
