First I want to know what level of the language he/she is at to customize my work with him/ her. I will ask him or her some basic questions in Spanish, and determine the level where a class must start. I have taught Spanish for over 30 years, and use a very simple teaching method that involves the student in the language immediately. I do not allow translation in my class, nor do I emphasize grammer rules.
