About Maggie

Spanish Native, Bachelor Degree in Spanish with over 20 years of experience as teacher, translator, and interpreter.

I like seeing the student learning and feeling comfortable using what has been learned. I have mostly work with adults, but children are especially fond of learning and being able to communicate with others.

While I was finishing University classes, I got the opportunity to teach a few lessons. I liked it and have continued. Though in the last few years, life has taken in other directions and lessons have been a little more far and between. I'm looking forward to returning to it.

Bachelor in Spanish at the University of Costa Rica.

Peace Corps CR certification as a Spanish teacher for volunteers.

British Institute CR certification as a Spanish teacher.

ILISA CR certification as a Spanish teacher.

About the lesson

We start by assessing the level my student is. Then start with, or refresh, basic phrases and easy conversation (like introducing yourself/say good morning/afternoon, etc.) and build from there. Every person is different so I try to find a method that works for each student as individualized as possible.

I have worked mostly with adults of diverse backgrounds and first languages.

The most important is if that person is a Native speaker or not. There is a not-so-subtle difference to really understanding and transmitting the language you're trying to teach if you're a Native speaker or not.

Look for credentials, like degrees and certifications, and how long that person has been involved in the field.

Higher levels and more specialized content is priced upon content, length of the lesson, and frequency.
