About Lourdes

Lourdes Rubio has been an educator for over 15 years. I am a native Spanish speaker and fully fluent in English. I hold a teaching license in both languages and have taught at HS and college levels. My experience and years of teaching makes me unique since I have learned to work with many age groups, cultural backgrounds and approaches as well. As a former special education teacher and counselor, I am quick at identifying which learning style works best for my students.

I believe that "If you know, teach", and I also believe that everyone can learn another language. I love to see my students grow in ways they never thought they could. Since languages broadens the horizon, I delight in seeing my students understand their environment with another language and cultural perspective. I am fun but respectful, professional and fun

Teaching has been my career all life long since I graduated from college as an educator.

MA in Education,

MA in Special Education

MA in Counseling

Teacher certification (English)

12 years of College teaching expereince in languages and Interpretation Skills

About the lesson

Get to know the student:

1. Learn about their interest in language

2. Know their strengths and weaknesses

3. Set up goals

4. Talk about strategies

Ages 8-50

Multinational

Multilingual

Knowing a language does not make you a teacher. It is the same as having two legs does not make you a marathon runner. Find the person who knows about teaching, has studied the language and has skills to relate to different personalities and learning skills.

I recently ran into a young man who is now a realtor. He came and hugged me. He told me that thanks to him having learning Spanish, he was very succesfull in his career. He was my student as a SPanish student and then he also was my student in the interpreting course.
