About Maria

With nearly 20 years in the field, I’m deeply passionate about making Spanish learning enjoyable and meaningful for children. My qualifications, including a Master’s in Innovation and Research in Education, ensure that every lesson is carefully tailored to your child’s unique needs.

At eSpacool, we focus on personalized, interactive lessons that use creative methods like games and storytelling. My experience in bilingual and immersion programs, combined with certifications from Instituto Cervantes, Google, and Microsoft, enables me to incorporate the latest tools, ensuring fun and effective language learning.

I began teaching nearly 20 years ago, driven by my passion for making language learning engaging and accessible to children. My experience spans across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, where I’ve had the opportunity to teach students from diverse backgrounds. My years in bilingual and immersion programs in the U.S. shaped my interactive and inquiry-based approach to education. This journey led me to create eSpacool, an online Spanish school focused on delivering fun, personalized, and effective Spanish lessons for young learners.

Our lead teacher, María Menéndez, has nearly 20 years of experience teaching Spanish to children across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education with bilingual, multicultural, and ESL endorsements, and a Master’s in Innovation and Research in Education. Additionally, she is a certified examiner with Instituto Cervantes and a certified Google and Microsoft Educator. María's passion for creating fun, engaging lessons is at the heart of eSpacool, making Spanish learning an exciting journey for every child.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, we begin with a Discovery Session, a 25-minute Zoom meeting. During this session, we get to know your child through a friendly meet-and-greet and a fun mini-lesson to assess their current Spanish level. We’ll also discuss their learning goals, interests, and preferred styles to create a personalized learning plan tailored just for them. This is also a chance to explore our teaching methodology and ask any questions you may have before starting your child’s Spanish journey!

You can book a free Discovery Session here (concealed information)

We work with children aged 4-12, including beginners and those with some Spanish exposure. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share a desire to learn Spanish in a fun, creative environment.

Look for a teacher who not only focuses on language skills but also makes learning fun and emotionally engaging. It's important to find someone who understands the unique learning styles of children and can adapt lessons accordingly.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before enrolling your child in an online Spanish class, it’s helpful to consider a few important questions. Defining your goals is crucial—whether you want your child to gain basic conversational skills or become bilingual for the future. Next, decide on the class structure that best suits your child: one-on-one classes offer personalized attention, while group settings encourage social interaction. Finally, think about your child’s learning style and how they engage best, as matching this with the teacher’s approach can make a big difference in their success.

Perfect! I am so impressed. Everything is personalized to the child’s interests. Lessons are so well organized and entertaining. Maria is so engaging. My daughter loves her class and is excited to learn Spanish. She has even asked if she can do more than once a week with Maria. I am so happy that we started.

Maria Menendez’s teaching style is engaging and interactive and students in her classroom walk away each day with vast amounts of new knowledge, but with the memory of having a great time while learning. This is what makes Maria one of the most popular teachers of our school

Having Maria Menendez as my son’s Spanish teacher influenced even a brighter spark in my son’s strong desire to learn the language. She has so much to offer in class […] Having been able to visit the classroom of Ms Menendez is like touring Spain and it made a child’s learning come to life . […] she taught the kids to have a sense of social awareness that any human being (big or small, kid or adult) can make a difference and could extend help. With Maria’s guidance and inspiration, she taught the kids not just the Spanish lessons but also how to be compassionate and giving.
