About Stephen
Each student that comes for class receives my undivided attention, and I am able to bring out the best in a students abilities. Whether involved in Public Speaking or bringing more attention to using English more effectively challenges can be overwhelming. The simple fact is that communicating clearly can be difficult. Perhaps a person is in a meeting but much of the time is spent in simply clarifying language. Or perhaps one suddenly finds themselves in front of an audience of five hundred people with butterflies in their stomach and their palms soaking wet. I provide students with the knowledge and skill to ease out feelings of discomfort and awkwardness and speak clearly and comfortably.
Background and Qualifications:
- Christopher Newport University, 1975 B.A. in English and Theatre.
- 1980-1984: American University, M.A. in Film and Televsion Production.
- 1972-75: Performer and Assistant Director with The Norfolk Theatre Center Repertory Company
- 1985-1988: Media Producer - Smithsonian Institution
- 1988-1998: Free Lance News Producer and Technician In Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA. Clients: British, German, Austrian, French, and Israeli television and more.
- 1998-2009: Maryland State Certified Teacher: Public Speaking, Acting, Directing, Theatre Production, Film Studies, English composition and literature and Writing.
- 2009-2016: Owner: The World Cultures Program - Public Speaker.
