About Jane
We teach traditional Taekwondo, Judo and Hapkido (self-defense) to all ages 7 - ? Our instructors are all volunteer. Class fees are $35 per month with discounts for additional family members. There is a $25 (or $35 for family) membership fee in the IDMF - International Dae Myung Moodo Federation, and of course $20 - $25 for uniform, depending on the size. We meet at Arrowhead Elementary School on Tuesday and Friday evenings, 5:30 for the junior class, 6:30 for the adult class. Our head instructor is Grand Master Curtis Ferrin, other instructors are Master Melinda Tilton, Master Jane Kelly and Instructor Hilary Hunt. Our main tenets are: Respect, Humility and Patience. We expect our students to practice techniques and forms at home and to exhibit the main tenets in the rest of their lives. With three instructors, we are able to frequently give one-on-one instruction in order to help our students achieve their maximum potential. I have been practicing these martial arts for a little over 20 years. GM Ferrin and Master Tilton even longer, both nearly 40 years. Martial arts, unlike many sports, is for life! We introduce a new students to proper do jang (training hall) etiquette, and the basic stances, forms steps, basic kicks and strikes. We try not to over-correct and give encouragement by praise and also by awarding a special "Copy Cat" award to the student who we deem to have shown the most attention, and has worked the hardest during the class time.
