About Steve

When a student shows up early and is reluctant to leave after a lesson, indicating a value they place in my tennis knowledge, that makes me happy. My location is on the beautiful tennis courts at Locust Valley High School on the North Shore of Nassau County, NY since 2005.

Although I teach absolute beginners through intermediate players, I prefer teens who are trying out for their JV or varsity school teams.

All students from 7 years old through adults will benefit from my professional experience. I teach an all court game which involves modem stroke production, efficient footwork, strategy and tennis tactics.

I retired from my career in 2004 and volunteered to teach tennis to children in a camp. It was my first opportunity to teach children and I fell in love with their reaction and response to my sense of humor, and as they improved every week I decided this is what my focus will be in retirement.

I certified with Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and attend their workshops.

About the lesson

I first ask the student what their tennis goals are. Recreation or competitive play. And what experience they've had in tennis.
I then explain what we will accomplish together over the six weeks.
mid the student is a beginner, I stsrt with teaching the importance of proper footwork
