About Tim

I have coached tennis for 24 years: juniors, adults, ALTA, USTA, group, private, high school, and camps. I'm certified by the PTR, PTR-United Kingdom Academy Pro, the USPTA and the Etcheberry Experience.

I love coaching, teaching, tennis and helping people enjoy tennis while they become good players.

I am always trying to learn from other coaches, pro players and tennis resources.

I believe my students should be able to be a resource to them outside lesson times.

I enjoy the people! And I love seeing them take a break from work or school and see them satisfied by how much they improve.

Sometimes my regular students start to pay me and I say "This one is on me!" because I want them to know that the lessons are about them, not me.

I don't believe in one size fits all in coaching. Every player is unique in their goals, background, physical development and learning style so I tailor coaching to the person!

I am certified by the USPTA and the PTR and keep current on maintaining their high standards. I am also certified by the PTR in England as an Academy Pro and certified by Pat Etcheberry who trained Sampras, Agassi, Courier and many former number one women tennis pros.

I also was taught as a boy and trained to coach by a former, two-time US Davis Cup player.

About the lesson

I find out if they have any tennis background, any physical restrictions, and I ask them what they hope to gain from lessons eg goals. And if they have some tennis background, I ask if they have anything in particular they want to work on.

I try and make sure they get to hit a lot of balls and see improvement in their game each lesson.
