About Cosmo

After playing since the age of 12 and teaching since 16, I have helped students of all ages, genders, backgrounds and abilities to improve their game. With experience in Private, Semi-private and Group formats, my instruction, guidance and coaching has beginners (1.0-1.5) how to play, intermediates (2.0-3.5) to become more capable and confident with a broader scope of strokes, and advanced (4.0-5.5) to fine tune strokes, develop better weapons and improve strategic knowledge. Competitive players have diminished weaknesses and doubles teams have built better movement and strategies for success.

Pour tous les Québécois et autres francophones, je peux enseigner en français.

At 16 a friend of my father's knew I was a tennis player and asked if I could help him figure out why his game was off. I did, and quickly discovered I had an inherent knack of seeing what was "wrong" with someone's game. Over time I cultivated the communication skills to effectively transfer that informatuoin to my students.

Been playing since I was 12, teachign since 16. Studied for several years under Peter Burwash, and was Head Teacing Pro as an indoor club in NYC for 4 years.

About the lesson

Discuss their current level and ultimate goals. Then hit the courts and assess their overall game, and determine the challenges to be conquered i achieving those goals.

All. My students have included men & women, ages 5 to 90, from complete beginners to 6.0 rated league & tournament competitors. They have been short and tall, athletic and not, right & left handed, one- & two-handed backhands, and have brought to me an endless variety of issues, challenges and problems. While the majority of my students have been private, I have tought as many as 48 on 4 courts in one 2-hour serve clinic.

Talk to the teacher and make sure he or she can communicate in a manner that you can understand, in a style that appeals to you. Some teachers are "louder", some are calmer, some are more visual, others more verbal. It MAKES NO DIFFERENCE HOW GOOD A PLAYER THE TEACHER IS... some of the best tennis coaches in teh world are only average players. What matters is how well they can HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR GAME... not how well they can try to teach you to play theirs.

I enjoy watching all the Majors, including doubles and mixed doubles.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are their tennis goals? (Learn the game, better backhand, fix my serve, improve my volley, learn better doubles, etc..)

What is their time frame? (By next season, by next month, before the Summer, etc...)

What is their availability? (Only mornings, only evenings, only weekends, etc...)

What is their budget.
