About Adeline

I am a passionate teacher who loves working with children! I am currently attending the Mannes School of Music with a major in Violin Performance and am studying under Michelle Kim, the Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. I started the violin and piano lessons when I was 3 years old, alongside my two older brothers, and have continued both since then. I have had the privilege to perform in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, The Millennium Stage, The National Theatre, The Brooklyn Museum, Alice Tully Hall and the Metropolitan Opera House.

I always love when a student is enthusiastic and is eager to learn!

I currently study violin performance at the Mannes School of Music in New York. I have worked with students of all ages, even adults, but I have the most experience with children through other jobs such as daycare and as a camp counselor. I first began teaching through a program in my school called Music Buddies, where members of the Philharmonic Orchestra would give free lessons to middle and elementary schoolers around the area. I then began working through Musika Lessons where they send students to me. My youngest has been 4 and my oldest is in his 60s!

About the lesson

For beginning students, the first things to learn are not playing. Since playing the violin is unnatural to the human body, setup and posture are the most important steps to avoid developing bad habits and avoid the possibility of getting injured. Next upon learning the basics of how to hold the violin and pull the bow is learning how to read music, which I will teach through weekly exercises and homework. If a student knows the basic setup of the violin/piano and knows how to read music then I would start them on repertoire fitted to their level. I learned the violin and piano through the Suzuki method and once finished, my teachers gave me repertoire outside of the Suzuki books. Scales and etudes are fundamental to develop the necessary technical skills of the violin and are usually started after learning the basics.

If I travel to your home, my pricing would be $45 an hour. If you travel to my home it will be $40 an hour, and online will be $30 an hour.
