About Allison

A native New Yorker, I started playing violin at age 4 and never stopped. My early training took place at Mannes Pre-College and LaGuardia High School. I later received my Bachelors in Violin Performance from the Hartt School of Music, and my Masters in Violin Performance from Boston Conservatory. I also completed the two year Suzuki Certification Course at School for Strings. I’ve played with numerous orchestras, including the Harlem Symphony and Manhattan Symphonie. I have been the recipient of a number of awards including the Hartt Performing Arts Scholarship, the Boston Conservatory Award, and the Douglas Cox Violin Scholarship. I love teaching and have experience with students of all ages and levels. I've taught for 14 years and am currently on the faculty of Third Streer Music School. I believe that each student is unique, and tailor my lessons to fit the specific needs of every student. I feel that technique is the bedrock of proficient playing, and make sure that my students understand the process that goes into making music on the violin. Most importantly I want my students to feel good about their playing— and have fun!

About the lesson

I recently finished up the school year with five recitals for around 50 students across three boroughs (Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens). All of my students had grown in different ways over the school year, and I was proud of them all!

Details

I charge $40/ 30 minutes, $60/45 minutes and $80/60 minutes. In-home lessons are available depending on location and my schedule for which there is a small travel fee.
