About Fred

I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i, and spent most of his time in the United States Air Force, retiring here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I'm an educator in the Albuquerque Charter School Systems and an active NMAA and NCAA DII Volleyball Official. I've been involved with volleyball for over 30 years, competing overseas with the military and throughout the Southwest. I've been coaching for over 28 years and have been with ARVC when they first established in 1998. Under my leadership and my knowledge for the game, my teams reached the USAV Girl's Juniors National Championships for the last six years and trained student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level. My key to teaching student-athlete is to mainly focus on two-basic element; footwork and mechanics. Without these two, volleyball skills are limited. I'm presently train new and veteran coaches, updating current process and development of young athletes, mental training, drill development, and next-level coaching. I currently holds USAV-CAP2 and AAU-PCI certifications in volleyball coaching.

Being patience and determine to develop student-athlete in their volleyball goals. Continuously to learn all about the game and strategies. Applying life lesson skill on and off the court, individual's responsibility, and holding player accountable for their development. Finally, Fun and Competition.

I started coaching while I was in the military, coaching my squadron team and onto my installation team. I started coaching juniors in 1998 until now. I'm also a part-time educator at a charter school.

I'm presently certitfied USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) Level 2 and AAU-Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). I'm presently the instructor for coaches training (new and 2nd year coaches) at the Albuquerque Rebels Volleyball Club (ARVC).

About the lesson

Do an Assessment on their present skill sets. Make adjustment if needed, or enhance their skill better for the next level.

All age group. If the student-athlete is willing to learn the game and enhance their skills, I'm all for it.

For the first-timer or new students to the sport, be patience. You can not learn this game in one day or one month, we must master our body movements (footwork and mechanics) before seeing results. Be patience, it will come.

My younger student-athletes who first learn the game for the very first-time, are now skilled and working their where up to the national team. These young girls put a lot of time and dedication to their training and the sport. They are train how to play this game correctly and better their skill sets.
