I started coaching volleyball and track while I was still competing. I always had a junior team to mentor and coach during my off season months. I was an assitant coach to my coaches in college and learned the foundation of training from them.

I also went to the National Sports Academy ( Sofia, Bulgaria ) - a university institution recognized in USA, where my major was volleyball coaching. I learned subjects like biomechanics, biochemistry, physiology, human anatomy, methodology of athletic training as well as many sport disciplines such as basketball, handball, sking, sailing, gymnastics, swimming ...etc.

I am a former professional beach volleyball player. I had competed on the highest possible level of the sport for 6 seasons - the FIVB World Tour of Beach Volleyball, CEV - the European Confederation of Volleyball, and I have played college indoor volleyball for Long Beach State and University of North Alabama. I have also coached Hawaii Pacific University's sand program for 3 years between 2014-2016, club indoor volleyball and high school teams in Honolulu, Hawaii for the last 5 years.

I have a Master's Degree in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

About the lesson

When I first meet a client ( student - athlete ), I conduct a 15 minutes long interview. We talk about goals, previous experience, expectations, logistics, and the time they are willing to invest in their volleyball training.

We then enter the gym/beach volleyball court and warm up. I often warm up with my students, especially if it is a first practice.

We work on what they have set as a goal for this day and we end with revision and plan for a reasonable expectations.

I have worked with all levels of beach and indoor volleyball players. I have coached collegiate athletes, high school advanced and intermediate level, beginners in volleyball anywhere from 8 to 15 years old. I have worked as a beach and indoor volleyball coach in California, Hawaii, Alabama, Spain, France, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Brasil. I have also been specifically trained to work with highly functional autistic athletes and I have done that as well.

I am also coaching adults in beach volleyball. Some of the teams and individual athletes I had worked with are professional or semiprofessional athletes now. I have different price list for this type of training sessions and level of competition. If you are interested and you are competing professionally, we can talk more.

And I am also a personal trainer: worked with adult women and men, coaching a change in their life style based upon proper nutrition, quality diet, planned excersise, balanced work/training routine and long lasting healthy lives. As a personal trainer, I work with one to two clients at a time, and I spend 2 hour/5 days per week with each one. If you are interested in this type of training, we can talk more.

Research the coach's back ground. If the coach had played the sport ( especially on a professional or AT LEAST a DI collegiate level ) most likely this coach is equiped to teach you the foundation as well as the advanced skills of the sport you are interested in. You can google anybody's name and reserach his/her career. If the coach had a real experience, his/her name will pop up somewhere online with enough credible sources to back his/her resume.

There are lots of "weekend entusiasts" and basically "groupies" of the sport, who call themselves 'coaches' that in reality do more harm to the athletes than any good. I have seen this type of coaching and many junior athletes and parents are not aware of the facts in the industry. Often hiring a coach and not only not seeing any tangible results for sometimes years in a row, but getting your kid injured, seing him/her picking up horrible habits and cutting off short what potentially could have been a long athletic career is entirely preventable if some research is done in advance.

Just ask yourself: Will you hire a piano teacher who owns a piano and prctices on the weekends ..... sometimes on the weekends and tuesday nights ...... in the past year and ahalf ..... and is also learning from YouTube tutorials?

Or will you agree to have a surgery perfomed by doctor who says he/she is a surgeon but never went to school or practiced any medicine? And leanred how to use the scalpel online or practicing with his/her frineds once a week for two hours?

Be prepared to receive the quality of service that you hire and do not get surprised of the results because they are directly related with the quality of coaching one signs up for.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should think about how much time they can dedicate to their training. Do they have the resources to support it? Logistics and showing up at practices on time ......

What are their expectations from the trainings for both - athletes and parents. And what are the events they are trying to prepare for if any.

Details

I do have a standard system of pricing. I charge $120/hour for a single booking of a private lesson. I also offer generously priced packages when booked in bulk. This proves me that the athlete is dedicated and that the family will support that. More time with me per week generally supports a steady improvement and good final results.
