About Alek
Alek came to yoga in 2007 and since then has been exploring and experimenting with the physical and mental practice as a way to stay curious, humbled, and connected. With a background in modern dance and improvisational movement, yoga has provided her different perspectives to approach and refine the body and mind in subtler ways.
In her classes, Alek strives to create an environment that’s safe, non-dogmatic, and practical. All the yoga she teaches is meant to serve students both on and off the mat. She aims to meet folks where they are - from complete beginners to advanced yogis - and take students through a practice that’s progressive. Her goal is for our students to walk away from each session feeling like they are continuously learning and are able to incorporate the material into their everyday lives. She received her 500-hr certification with Leah Gillman in 2014 in Oakland, CA.
Alek currently owns, operates, and teaches virtually at her Oakland, CA yoga studio, Barefoot Movement. Known as a ‘teachers teacher’, she’s been leading classes since 2013 and has led several workshops, teacher trainings, and retreats. She’s excited to bring her knowledge and skill to the Austin community and beyond!
I completed my 500hr RYT training in 2014, and since then have taught not only private instruction, but also public classes, corporate classes, workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings.

In order to serve students better, I like to set up an initial short call (free of charge) to discuss what the student is hoping to gain from each session, if there are any particular goals I should keep in mind, and if the student is working with any injuries or limitations. From there, I'm better able to build a classes (or sequence of classes) that are customized to that particular students wants and needs.

Details
Discounts are available if purchasing several sessions in one payment. Contact me for an exact quote. Pricing begins at $120/60min session. I also offer 20min, 30min, and 45min sessions for folks looking for more economical options. If located outside of Austin, there is a fee for travel/time.
