About Jessica

I aim to provide my clients with individualized yoga classes to fit their needs and schedules. Yoga is a highly personal practice, and I welcome you exactly as you are. I have been a practicing RN for 15 years and am also a licensed massage therapist and certified personal trainer, thus I have in-depth knowledge of a body's structure and function. This makes me uniquely qualified to help those recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic health problems.

I love helping people. Teaching yoga allows me to do this in a more holistic way. Profound effects are realized by connecting the mind, body, and spirit through breath work, postures, and meditation.

I have completed the 200-hour teacher training and am registered with Yoga Alliance (200RYT). I'm also a licensed massage therapist (FL MA91807) a certified personal trainer (through the American Counsel on Exercise), and have been a critical care RN (licensed in multiple states) since 2004 and have just completed the training for Board certification as a Holistic Nurse Coach.

About the lesson

After the initial paperwork (health history, liability release and consent forms), we'll talk about your goals for the class(es). I generally don't offer too many adjustments during the first class unless something is dangerous and could cause injury. Props are encouraged even for experienced yogis. The goal is always STHIRA and SUKHA: steadiness and ease.

I work with students of all levels from novice to advanced practice. All asanas can be modified according to ability, for injuries, or for those with balance issues to enable students to find ease and stability in the pose.

Make sure the teacher is aware of any limitations (injuries, medical conditions) you have and understands your goals (fitness, flexibility, relaxation). Ask for a discounted package rate (5-pack, 10-pack) compared to the private one class price.

I recently taught a class that was truly representative of all levels. I knew it wouldn't be easy to keep the advanced yogis challenged without overworking the intermediate students, and I was fearful of losing the beginners entirely. I was so happy to receive really positive feedback from all the students after class.

What drew you to the practice of yoga? What are your goals and/or intentions? If you are requesting that the teacher come to you, does your home have the necessary space? Please be willing to discuss any recent accidents/injuries, current medical conditions, and any allergies with your teacher.
