About Kuawanna

My name is Kuawanna Thompson, and I am the founder of Lotus Roots Yoga & Wellness. I am an internationally trained yoga educator with more than a decade of teaching experience, and I completed advanced yoga studies in India. Over the years, I have had the privilege of guiding students from all walks of life—from complete beginners to aspiring yoga teachers—and have successfully graduated seven classes of yoga teacher trainees.

My professional background is uniquely diverse. I hold degrees in Nursing and Sports Medicine, and I have extensive experience in corporate leadership and management. This combination allows me to blend scientific understanding, practical business insight, and traditional holistic wisdom into every program I offer. I am also completing advanced studies to become an Ayurveda Practitioner, deepening my ability to help individuals achieve balance through personalized lifestyle, nutrition, and wellness practices.

Working with me is both supportive and transformative. My teaching style is warm, professional, and highly personalized. I create a safe environment where students feel seen, encouraged, and empowered to grow at their own pace. I emphasize breathwork, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and practical tools that students can apply immediately in their daily lives. Whether you are seeking stress relief, personal healing, or professional development as a yoga teacher, I meet you where you are and provide clear, structured guidance.

Students often describe my approach as grounded, compassionate, and deeply knowledgeable. I believe in addressing the root causes of imbalance rather than simply treating symptoms, and I am passionate about helping people build lasting habits that support their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

I know I will do an excellent job because my work is driven by both expertise and genuine care. With over ten years of teaching experience, a strong foundation in healthcare and wellness, and a deep commitment to each student's success, I bring a rare combination of professionalism, intuition, and practical wisdom. My greatest joy is witnessing the transformation that occurs when people reconnect with their breath, their bodies, and their inner strength.
